Endangered Species- Goliath Tiger Fish
This website focuses on the Goliath Tiger Fish as an endangered species. It is unique to the Congo River. It weighs up to 45kg and is measures up to 7.5 ft in length! The photo (left) was taken on an expedition of the Congo River.
The Goliath Tiger Fish is endangered due to many causes, including:
1) Though fishing. Sometimes it gets trapped in nets or chokes on lost rigging.
2) Tourism. Lost's of tourists go to the Congo River and they bring pollution with them. Fish can also be hit with tourist boats and be killed or injured.
3) Locals see the Tiger Fish as a danger to nature. They have been bought up in a way to believe if they ever see one they should kill it.

There have been not very many attempts on saving the Goliath Tiger Fish and they have largely failed. There are only 450 Goliath Tiger fish left in the world. Unfortunately three related species went extinct a few years ago as well. We think sadly that Goliath Tiger Fish do not have a long future and are estimated to be extinct by 2020. We hope that someone might be ale to save them.
I think this species should be protected. Lots of people think this fish is a threat to other wildlife but actually its just trying live its life in peace and forms part of the eco system. That is why people should protect the Goliath Tiger Fish.
